Carlos Silveira is a Brazilian biofuturist dedicated to developing plausible speculative technologies, integrating biological patterns, materials, and logics to solve future emerging problems. His work bridges technical and creative dimensions by hybridizing various tools to envision a more ecocentric future through biodesign, futures thinking, and philosophy.
As a consequence, the state of the art in his projects emerges when the technologies become artifacts that challenge our understanding of how we live. Rather than merely expressing something inherently human, they explore new scenarios, invite us to reconsider our identity, and envision who we might become through cultural and social explorations.
He works as an independent researcher, educator, and director of Bioart projects at the iGEM Community. Currently, Carlos Silveira is enrolled in the Masters of Design in Emergent Futures shaped by the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) Fab Lab Barcelona and the Elisava School of Engineering and Design.
